MRC-3024 Alternative - Perhaps...

A Roboard will work, but it takes a good bit of programming. I'm currently working on using a Z530 SBC with a separate servo controller. The hardware I'm testing with now is using a Maple Mini and an Adafruit 16 channel I2C servo controller.

The Maple Mini and Adafruit servo controller together as a standalone controller should be far more impressive than the stock MRC-3024 with ATMEGA128. :) I have more testing to do, but technically it should work great. No servo position feedback, though... I won't need it for what I'm doing, but some may.
