I wondered how many people Hitec servo broke the final gear, the heat in the house (40 ° C). The robot is off, legs and arms are detached! Incredible but true! In three days, six servo broke without using them, this problem has happened to other people? Let me know. Thank you.

Hi Sazabi, thanks for your response! Others have had problems with breakage due to shock or vibration, but I thought it was so for me! I replaced the servo with a broken again, and broke the day after, at robots power off . Every summer break the same karboite final gear! Now i have ask to Hitec if is possible change karbonite with steel kit for HSR-5498SG and this is possible! But the kit is all gears ! now i buy this kit for six with alot of gear for do not use it. I am a crazy but not at this point. Hitec! in time for a world crisis i stay calm for spend my money and I hope you sell a single gear, quickly adapting to the way of other companies.
If more people ask to insert singol gear parts to Hitec this is a solution.
For any idea how to make write in this post.
regards.

Just a note: at least one gear has to be karbonite (non metal). One, that goes between motor and gear pack. It prevents ... mmm... well, something, I don't remember))) But it has to be there.

Yes the HSR-8498HB is all karbonite ! and HSR-5498SG is steel and the first gear is karbonite ! If you want convert HSR-8498HB in steel gear you can make this ! The problem is you cannot buy singol gear,or 2nd and 3rd Gear set or all ! for the last one to me I should buy all the gear kit.

I am somewhat confused by this post. Does the standard HSR-5498SG have all steel gears or three steel and one karbonite gear? Furthermore wouldn't the steel cause quicker wear on the karbonite gear making the karbonite gear break sooner? Also, is there even a internet resource where someone can purchase the steel gear set?

I don't know how you can break any of those servo output gears, the only problems RN-! has had is pulled servo leads and two first gears stripped. RN-!'s been competing in robogames 5 years, this year I replaced all the leg and shoulder servos with HSR-5498 SG's, it only made RN-! a little heavier and run faster. The karbonite first gears are there to go first to save the other gears, I get my servos from HiTec Germany, they also have gearsets. You should change all gears because there is so little clearance in the geartrain. Any dust from the stripped, damaged gear will detract from the life of the servo.

Hi engineer! For me it is a factory defect! over ten Servo with the same problem, look at pictures.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_WYSIsJ2dTi8/T ... DC0033.JPG
I solved by changing all the servants with Chinese models! Keeping electronics (MR-C3024), the best place to start, to experiment, for schools ...
I connected irda sensor, gyro, sonar, light, airsoft guns, and lately I'm developing an H-bridge to put the wheels on my robot! I'm disappointed by the response of the company (HITEC) to my problem ... Their response: You can buy the metal parts if you want! To overcome problems look future ...... :)

I have been thinking about this thread for a while, the only things I can think of relate to the servo hub screws - perhaps too tight, perhaps crossthreaded? I have a few RN-1's, nothing like this has happened on any of them. I have noticed some of the 8498 servo hub screws are tighter than I'd like them to be. They only hold the hub on, they don't need to be so tight - the splines do the work. On the 5498's, the screws torque down the hub, but that's a very tight fit of metal on metal - I don't think the servo hub screws on a 5498 do anything at all once the horn is seated, you could probably take them out as the hubs are so tight on the spline!!!

Hello RN1AsOf091407, I state that the robot was standing on the base an few months. One morning I found the robot arms on the table! I thought is my son! Changed with two new servo! The next day both legs. I have screamed at my son! A few days after, i stay to working on the PC I saw an arm fall. The summer heat + gravity = (ice cream tec )........
I changed all the servo with a low-cost model all metal (made in China) and are so happy!

You say summer heat and gravity made the servos melt? How hot is the weather where you live? Furthermore, it is good to see how your Robonova has evolved, but if I may ask, what are these Chinese servos that you speak of and how easy were they to install on your Robonova?

He did not melt the servo, but only the gear, where I apply horn!
I do not like to advertise for free, my servant is an old version of the new (ProGear Robot Servo) . The servo is more bigger to the original .
At the ROBONOVA remains the only servo controller ...
