I know this will seem totally basic to the bulk of you guys but im a newbie.

I just got my robonova and i keep seeing all you guys with the cool multi colour led eyes. I was hoping someone could explain exactly how you wire them up and then the tricky bit for me how do you program them.

I should clarify i mean the 4 wire LEDs not the ones that auto sequence. The idea being i can give Mr Sushi a little bit of personality so we can tell when hes on his rags with some red eyes.

hi, can you please post a link to a picture or video of the multicolored LED
There is for example, this blinkM item which can link to the robonova board via i2c.

This should get you started.

Make sure you use resistors between the LED cathodes and the MRC3024 pins to limit the current.

Thanks i-Bot, i should be sorted with that.
Do you think it is possible to still use the original LED connections for one of the 3 in the new tri colour LEDs??

If you use the PWM pins, then you can add PWM2 for the third LED.

If you have two LED, use seperate resistors for each, and allow for the two current loads. You may have to play around with resistor values to get same light intensity for all colors.

Hi I-Bot,

I'm pleased to see you are still visiting this forum. Just wanted to thank you for all the fantastic resources you have made available. I was recently upgrading my brand new Robo from 2.5 to 2.7 firmware when the battery conked in the middle of the process. Major panic because it seemed that Robo had died on me, competely unresponsive, departed from this mortal coil, an ex-robot, etc. Anyway, thanks to your roboflash I was able to reinstall the 2.5 firmware and get things working again.

So... THANKS!
