I would never be one to discourage experimentation, so please don't take this negatively.
The 'jump' or 'rabbit hop' creates some really extreme stresses on the leg servos, especially the ankles. Think of the robot body as basically a 2 kg. sledge hammer pounding down on the tiny gear teeth in the ankle servos.
It's true that quite a few of the ROBO-ONE 10 finalists were able to get their robots to do it. But quite a few of them dropped out before the competition even started because they did a lot of damage to their robots ankle and leg servos. You may notice that Dr. GIY didn't enter Yokozuna Great in ROBO-ONE 10. It turns out that he didn't want to do that kind of potential damage to the robot.
All that being said, go ahead and go for it. You'll never know until you try.
