Pinhole Cam Question

I've seen some pinhole cameras so tiny that they fit inside the Robonova head. There's some mods the Japanese are making where they cut open the visor in RN's head so the camera inside can see out.

Anyone see these tiny cameras for sale in the USA?

I didn't see any posts here to this topic and ended up doing lots more research into locating that tiny camera which fits into the RN head.

Actually, it's a cel phone camera (of course!) which is the keitai-remote-controlled webcam device by NTT DoCoMo, and you can see some photos of it at:

It looks like the technique to getting images is by sending wireless across the net, although there is some discussion about using infrared for a more simple approach. What do you think? Any comments?

I've looked in to this artea my self. It isn't that hard to find the camera. you can buy them for $15. the only problem is they come with out the hardware to make them work. funspark have been doing alot to get these thing up and running but it doesn;t look easy unless your a good electronic person. The only other products I've found have small cameras but the hardwares to big to fit on a robot.

If you find any more info let me know I would love my robot to see the world.

I found this true with the CMUcam-1. Upon closer inspection, the lens section can be separated from the other boards - but still too big to fit into RNs head.

Thanks for the info. Sparkfun has the cel-phone camera. It's a tiny 640 x 480 CMOS camera without the electronics. It appears to fit inside Robonova's head. There's PDF files posted with two camera projects using this lens. It does require some electronics assembly to get one up & running. If someone was interested in making up some printed circuit boards, we could assemble one much more easy. Any takers?

I would be up for helping out.

Unfortunantly I have very little electrical skills, my area is programming I can do some electrics but I think making this camera work would be over my head.

But if we could get 5 of us interested then it would be feasible to get some boards made and a small project group to get them working. There should be lots of people on the form that want a camera.
