Dave,

Connect up your CM-5, with your AX-S1 connected to it, to your PC serial interface (COM1 or whatever). Then run Robot Terminal. Assuming the COM port is correct, if you select Manage mode on the CM-5 (LEDs on back, press the mode button (red one) to cycle), then press start, you should get the CM-5 banner from the firmware and end up at a prompt.

[CID:001(0X01)]

If you are not on the right com port just disconnect (I think its under the setup menu in Robot Terminal but I may be wrong) then reconnect. That will let you select the COM port to use, leave the baud at 57600.

At the prompt you can type

reset 100

the value 100 is the ID of the AX-S1, reset is obviously the command.
You will be asked to confirm your action with a y/n type prompt
You'll get a couple of lines returned (they are actually packet details), and thats it done.

The Management Mode is documented in the Bioloid User Guide PDF on Starting page 108, the reset command is on about page 114/115, sorry for being vague doing this from memory. Do check the docs, you can download them in the Bioloid/Documentation section on the left.

Hope this helps, but do check the documetnation as I am doing this from memory.

Hmmmm it does sound like a sensor issue. Very surprised as first I've heard of but definately sounds like a problem with the sensor
