Robotis: servos and parts to build robots

Robotis is advertising his line of servos aimed at robot building and parts and brackets to connect servos 'a la' KHR1. The different parts seem plastic but also are easy to attach in different shapes and look well finished.

We've been in touch with them since 2004 about selling their products but they seem to have pricing expectations that far exceed what is reasonable given the limited market for expensive humanoid robots.

Hopefully they will make some sacrifice this year and lower the prices in order to sell a few hundred units outside of Korea/Japan. This would allow them to eventually sell thousands in the following year once they have established distribution chanels and a recognized brand.

The interest in humanoid robots is on the rise thanks to Japanese bignames fueling the media and toy products like Robosapien's knockoff "Roboactor Robone".

Yes im very interested in there products but its taken alot of WORK to even find an estimate to there prices, if your selling a not so popular product, you should want it noticed not hidden..

They had a small table in the corner at the Robo-One competitions here last week. The product looks great. I took some videos (hopefully I'll have the time to post them soon) and chatted with them for a while. My basic impression was that they aren't too serious about marketing outside of Korea at this point.

All the documentation, booth displays, and even their business cards were in Korean and English - not in Japanese, which is not too bright if they wanted to seriously sell anything here in Japan.

The review on www.botmag.com reveals an impressive robot kit with many great ideas on it. I think it will be the robot kit to beat if it eventually arrives to market.

Anyone know what the servo torque and rotation speed are on these fellas'?

The Kit comes with the AX-12 series, a cheap version of the impressive DX series.

Torque: 16.5Kg/cm
Speed: 0.19s /60 Deg. (up to 300 Deg.)
