Bioloid cables

Has anyone managed to source a suitable cable for making up your own sets?
I have seen on a previous thread where to get the connectors, is it possible to get the proper crimpers as well?

I've made up cables using those parts, without crimping. I coat the end of the terminal with liquid flux, and then (with a pre-tinned wire end) put a drop of solder on the whole thing and solder the wire to the terminal. A little manual crimping of the insulation tabs with a pair of needle nose pliers, and you're ready to go...

That's a picture of a power board I made to test my ATmega128 sensor boards. I'm using ribbon cable for power & ground, since the sensor boards draw very little in the way of current.

I haven't managed to find a decent cable, but I haven't really looked very hard either...

I made a cable using Jon's part numbers. Works great. I just soldered them directly, didn't use flux though.

Yes , use this cable 18AWG high strand count silicone wire.
This is good stuff. Very flexable much like the orginal Robotis wires which Robotis makes custom. The connectors are actually made for smaller gauge wire but the 18AWG is what Robotis uses and its what I use and recommend.

You can get the crimper from mouser.com here bear in mind they aren't cheap and mouser is the least expensive I've found.

I updated the AX-12 page on the bioloid.info wiki with a note and a picture comparing this wire with the original cables from the kit...

Hi,
I got my cable from BaneBots today ( 4x10ft lengths) and I ordered the 24awg which is a fraction thinner than the Bioloid cable but is slightly more flexible and fits the the metal terminals perfectly.
I got the metal terminals from Farnells and am still waiting delivery of the crimp housings.
I live in the UK but BaneBots in the US was the only place that I could get the right cable.

Further to my last posting if anyone is interested, I am willing to make up cables for a nominal fee to anyone that needs them, all the standard lengths will be the same price each plus posting. Longer ones obviously will cost a bit more.
I am not a commercial dealer and this service would be just to help out the robot community.
