Greetings. I'm a complete newbie and just assembled the humanoid. Downloaded the DemoExample(Humanoid) and of course the robot motions file. Everything seems to work fine, but the walking..... It's rediculous! Starts swinging left and right or falls back after the second step forward, cannot turn left or right - collapses :( I read about the offset setup, got the settings images from the net with the lines and stuff, tried adjusting the settings. Now my humanoid could make 3 steps forward but then still collapses.. Turning left and right still doesn't work correctly. Could anybody help adjust those settings? I mean it's difficult to put the droid in the same position as in the pictures.. Maybe there's an easier way of doing it? Thanks.

Well I have stability problems. The demo file makes the robot move to fast and it just falls on its butt or face

I did the offset as shown but no change on mine. it will lean too much and fall down everytime...

I am going to slow down the demo file to see if it helps. You may try it as well. And mean while if anyone can give some pointers I would appreciate :)

One good thing about HAL falling around and being ridicilus is that my daughter had a blast watching it :P

My Bioloid also suffers from this problem (although it falls forward more often then backwards). I have resorted to hacking together some bigger feet. It has solved the problem but it is far from an elegant solution.

I would be keen to hear from anyone who has had more success in solving the Bioloid 'walking problem' (perhaps slowing the sequences, whether gyroscopes an effective solution, bend the knees to keep the COG lower, weighted feet perhaps?).

Make sure your screws are all snug. My walked fine at first and over time the screws loosened and it started falling after a step or two.

PROBLEM SOLVED .

I have finally solved the problem of my Bioloid falling backwards & side to side. It is all in the position of the feet and a subtle difference between the printed manual that came with the Bioloid kit and the manual in the June 2006 update.

I have the origional 19DOF set and according to the build instructions the F5 Bracket (aka wide C-shaped bracket) should be fastened with 7 bolts to the centre back of the foot plate. But accoring to the PDF manual in the June 2006 software update the bracket should be in a more forward and outward position and fastened with ony 4 bolts.

I repositioned the foot plate accoringly and Bingo! it worked perfectly. I did not need to reduce the walk speed nor change my offset configuration. Since the foot has been repositioned the Bioloid works great.

If anyone else is still having problems with their Biolod perpetually falling over, you may want to try checking the position of the feet (and look at the June 2006 set of instructions).
