I bought a couple of Bioloid Zigbee modules and was underwhelmed with the range. It may have been the noise at RoboGames, but others with Zigbee usually did not have the range issues I had. (Except for the hour or so when no one could talk on 2.4Ghz anything.. probably a cheap video transmitter.)
Its great that they solder neatly into to Bioloid board, but I think the effort to adapt another transceiver would be worth it.
