I built my Bioloid yesterday, so in all it took about 9 hours.

Check out the pictures:

I added an extra servo, which you may see in the pictures.

I am still thinking of a name, but I think his name will be "Tyler".

He looks great! I'm thinking about picking up a Bioloid too. I'm glad you posted these images, because I've been puzzled by something...
I've been watching videos on-line and he doesn't seem to have a torso twist, but then I keep finding images of Bioloid twisting his torso. Are there two different versions of the Bioloid? Yours obviously has this feature. Did you have to mod it? If so, how did you do it and how is it working out for you?
Nice photos. Thanks for posting.

Thanks!

Unless you find an old (2006) Bioloid, it will only come with 18 servos.

I bought an extra servo for the use of the torso, it cost about $50 USD.

It fits perfectly in the spot where I put it (very easy too), although once you power it on the CM-5 gets an err.

So for programming you have to unplug it if you are using "Humanoid", or you can use another template, I think Pev has one some place around here...

From when I've used it I'd say it's great!

I am currently working on some Kung-Fu to use at a Robo-One style game, which this servo should really help with.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Best,

I've noticed that the walking sequence for the bioloids aren't very good IMO... This must be the default one. Has any bioloid owners that configured theirs to the humanoid have made new sequences with steadier gaits, also with higher foot pick up? Are the capabilities there? I wouldn't mind seeing a higher foot pickup since most humanoids I've seen seems to use the efficient gait, which is pick up the foot as little as possible and move forward, but would be nice to see the humanoids be able to traverse through terrains that aren't always flat and hard...

Put some Locitite onto the screws (all of them) then the screws won't come off so easily. Else you will find screws everywhere when your robot walk.

Anyway I don't find locitite that strong. For me screwing the screw tightly without loctite does the job well.

UncleBob is right! All you need is just screw it tightly... You can get high quality screws from Micro fasteners. They are selling other amazing stuffs that are essential for creating robots.. Hope this helps! 8)

Yes, I can say that all biloids have problem in straight walking. My self experiences and searches in the internet made it clear for me; and I dont know the reason; a problem in steps, or some structural issues.
Have you seen bioloids soccer motions? Walking motion in Those is something like said (with minimum foot pick up) but has an acceptable speed, not as slow`motion walking comming as default in CMs.

Hi minarai,

You will want to install RoboPlus on your PC first. Then you can use the Motion program to load and run motion (.mtn) files on your robot.

Check the Robotis support site for sample motion files that you can use.
