I think that's the first REALLY promising CPU board to replace the CM-5. The Hammer also looks interesting but the I/O capability list of this board is impressive. And it's also easily small enough.

What's slightly frustrating is the requirement to make a host board for all of the interconnects.

Pricing is also impressive, 100EUR must be about 60-70 quid?

Looks like a nice package but as StuartL says you still need an interface board and although this has USB 2.0, it has really slow USB 2.0 at 12Mbit/sec, USB 2.0 supports up to 480Mbps, at 12Mbps thats basically USB 1.2.

We use the Gumstix Verdex and Linux 2.6.21 to control our bots. I wish it had USB 2.0 but I'm sure a future model will. I'm pretty impressed with how rugged the Verdex is. They sure take a beating :o

Yes for AX-12's (TTL) but you'd still need a breakout board to get USB.

I know the processor used on this board for some time. It is cheap, Linux friendly stuff, made by a long-time Linux friendly company (Axis). However this is not a processor optimized for battery powered systems.

Compared to the first board, you'll get lower performance, and most probably higher power consumption.
