Arduino with AX-12?

Looking to see if anyone has had any luck directly controlling an ax-12 servo with the arduino? I'm looking to buy the AX-12 arm that crustcrawler produces and am trying to figure out the best route for controlling it. Since i'm much more familiar with arduino than any parallax board i thought i'd weigh my options.

Thanks.

Since you don't need mobility with the arm, why not go with the USB2Dynamixel or Huvrobotics.com board and control the servos from the PC?
