Is there much between the 'old' and 'new' Bioloid?

The difference is in the look and the controller.

It now looks like a humanoid instead of the previous erector set essembly. An appealing look, but not aggressive looking enough for combat maybe.

The controller now has LiPo, and is the deluxe spec.

Plenty on moves especially dances. Good walking motion and works on variety of surfaces.

In my opinion it will be popular for education and entertainment, but I still hope to see a more metal configuration suitable for competition.

Sound like availability is late summer, and maybe later for upgrade.
