using the bioloid in ubuntu?

total n00b here. I just bought a bioloid comprehensive kit and put together a simple bot (the melody car), but now i have no idea how to make the bot interface with my computer.... could anybody give me a step by step guide? i have tried the open source bioloid control software here http://robosavvy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=15447 but i get compile errors! i think i have all of the dependencies installed. please help, i really hope i didn't just throw $900 down the drain.

using a pci serial port to interface with the bioloid.

As you are using cosa's software... you'll need his help.

I'd just like to point out that libbioloid _should_ work just fine. libbioloid is much lower level than cosa's software, which depending on your mind may be a better fit.

I would guess that C++ is complaining that a String object is the natural conversion for a string constant and that 'char *' is no longer preferred. You'll either need to work around this restriction of C++, convert your strings to Strings or find a way of preventing the warnings.

As RandomMatt has said it's worth speaking to the software author to see if he came across this issue and if so how he fixed it.
