A good guide for legs with 6 motors

Look at the leg design for the humanoid in the comprehensive manual and copy that as close as possible. You can start with just the legs and use the CM5 as the only torso and no head/arms.

If you plan to add arms you should go for the comprehensive upgrade kit.
