Yeah. Just some random ones I had laying around. I was worried they'd strip out, but they hold quite well. I just drill the hole too small and screw it in. About 50% of the time I end up ruining the screw head in the process, but I just throw that screw away and I have a nicely tapped hole.

0.03 inch or maybe it was 0.04 inch. I'm not sure because the battery in my calipers died on me. Anyway. Don't assume what you have is too flimsy until you've assembled and screwed together the box. It's amazing how sturdy something can get with a bit of structural integrity. Even if you end up throwing out the box you'll learn a lot making it.

Hi Billy,

How did the 2200 mAh batteries work out? I was just about to order some 2200 mAh 20C batteries when I saw your post. (In the cart) We ran 2x 3s 4000 mAh batteries in korea last year, a single 3S pack wouldn't supply enough current. Of course the weight made things really difficult. This year we are running an Arm8 which with the camera only pulls 250mA peak, but of course all those servos pull an awful lot of current.

Thanks!

I've only made it as far as charging it. I'm working on software at the moment and my robot is in pieces. I'm not promising anything, but maybe I'll be far enough with my software this weekend that I can do some test that require the battery. At least it makes for a nice goal.

Hi billyzelsnack

I had one more question. Why didn't you created the robot with the zigbee module and have all the software running on a pc?

This robot was intended for robocup which requires an onboard computer. The CM-5 is not powerful enough to process images from a camera. So I could control the robot via a CM-5 to PC zigbee link, but I'd still need to come up with a way to get the video from the camera to the PC. Maybe one of those wifi webcams. This is a perfectly workable way of doing things, but I'd still need to figure out a solution for robocup.
