I'm getting closer to pulling this off. Now I need to tie up a bunch of loose ends and he should be up and walking.
The torso and head as seen in the pictures weighs in at 572g. With arms, legs, and battery that puts him in at 1982g. More than I had hoped. All those little bits and pieces always seem to add up to more than you would expect. If it ends up too heavy I might give a try to some carbon fiber for the outer casing. I was also planning on switching out some of the major plastic brackets for aluminum which should shed a decent amount of weight.
As for software status.. After a lot of screwing around I finally have ( on the fit-pc2 ) the PS3 eye data inside a c++ opencv app as well as serial access over usb to my teensy controller. Now I just need to get everything working at the same time instead of separately!
There are still a couple gotchas potentially left. One is powering the fit-pc2 via battery. Luckily it is only supposed to pull 5W so hopefully it won't be too major an issue. I'm thinking that I might just steal power right off the bus ( with some big caps on there ) unless someone thinks that might be a be a big noise issue. Any ideas are definitely welcome here. I guess I could always put a separate battery onboard, but I'd prefer not to.
btw. Anyone happen to know the Bioloid stock humanoid running weight? What about the premium type-A?
