I have just been building the A type humanoid. I am using Window 7 and installed all the software but I am unable to connect to the cm510. So I then installed windows xp mode and installed the software and again I was not able to connect to the cm510. I then tried the version in windows 7 and bingo all is working. Today I started things again but I was not able to connect to the controller. I have tried uninstalling all the software but still no luck. With what I did yesterday I wiped the default program so I have a robot that can't do anything and no way to communicate to it.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Do you have a bluetooth module installed in your computer? I have many bluetooth serial drivers installed in my system and all of the latest Robotis software seems to search all serial ports even though I've identified which one to use. What I generally do it turn off my wireless / bluetooth when I start the program. Once I get it the Robotis software connected I can turn the wireless / bluetooth back on. Another thing to do is go into device manager and change the serial port associated with the USB2Dynamixel to com1 so the software doesn't have to look far to find it.

Hopefully Robotis will correct this in a future version.
Hope this helps!

Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Row Control: None

I also tried 57600 bits per second as well but still no luck.

Go to port settings / advanced and change the port number to be something like 1. Be careful not to conflict with other ports you may have active.

Hi,

I did that and no luck either. I am looking to buy a cheap computer and install xp bare with a traditional serial port. Maybe that might work better.

HI,

What OS are you using to I am trying to use Windows 7 and windows XP mode with no luck.

The usb device comes up as com 6 and some time com3 or com 4. what speed should I be connecting. When I re-install sometimes its at 9600 other times its at 57600 baud.??

Still not connecting. Tried pushing the red button but what colour lights should be showing. at the moment I have green across the top in three spots. I start with read flashing and the green above the power switch.

Marc,

Do you know how to set the port properly for a USB device like an FT232? Judging by your replies here, I would say probably not, so here's some quick instructions:

- open the device manager
- open "Ports" sub-tree
- find the one for the CM-510
- right click, "Properties"
- click on the "Port Settings" tab
- press "Advanced" button
- change the COM port number in the drop-down list

That will permanently set which COM port that USB device is associated with. The baud rate in the first tab of the properties dialog is not relevant to anything - that is simply the default that is used if the software opening the port doesn't specify a baud rate.

HI, I set the port to com1.

1. I switched on the robot and the power light was green and the play light was flashing red.
2. Loaded RoboPlus Motion opened bio_prem_humanoidetypea_en
3. selected COM1, and
4. clicked connected.

The play light stopped flashing and then the error popup

------------------------------------------------------
No controller found. Please check the below.
- Is the controller connected to your computer? - YES
- Is the power of the controller turned on? - YES
- Did you select the correct port? - YES

[OK]
------------------------------------------------------

Still no go :(

I'm sure you've probably done this already, but just to double check... you've set the switch on the USB plug to RS232 right?
