My Bioloid Humanoid with Roboard

After weeks of preparation here is my bioloid/roboard project which I called ALEX (ALgorithm EXecutor). It is a modified bioloid based on Roboard, with wifi for debugging purposes a webcam for image processing and an accelerometer for balancing. This project is still in its infancy, this is a simple walking test.

Looks a little front-heavy though, and generally heavy.

Actually it's back heavy, as all the load is on the back except for the batteries (two lipos)which are in the foot. The robot's weight is 2.1Kg including the batteries

billyzelsnack, I will post some pictures tomorrow, but surely it's not as "neat" as your work, in fact I will be working on something more compact. From programming point of view, it is far better to program this way for me (debugging especially) than using the CM-5.

.. by the way the total weight of my bot is 2.3Kg not 2.1 I got a better scale and weigh it again this afternoon.

It really is amazing how much work is involved in giving a Bioloid an onboard wifi enabled computer. It's basically what I wanted from the start. Hopefully within the next few years you'll just be able to buy such a robot for a reasonable price.

I fully agree with you, but modifiying an existing robot kit is part of the "fun". Here are some photos of ALEX-1:

btw. What's that stuff on the foot? A heli gyro?

Small 9v Lipo battery (900mah) and battery monitor for each.

I find that when I program motion. The servo gets hot very easily (one leg action). Then the red light flash so I need to turn off for a while to cool it.
