Thanks for the videos UncleBob.

I'm sure you would have liked to have gone more rounds but it was still a respectable showing for a first-time combatant.

Looks like those barbed arm attachments on your second competitor were highly effective. They can tip you with the punch or on the recoil. They also extended the robot's arm reach enough so that your Knight Templar could not get close enough to land a good punch. I bet we'll see more arm designs like this in the future.

How did he do overall?

I am unlucky and face the bad robot early so lost soon. Other guys win a couple of fight in default when the opponent do not show up, or they face other small robots. I also played football which is very fun.

Overall this trip is very happy. I get to see so many robots !!!!! And fight with them.

I also get to talk to a korean school boy who made one of those bad ass robots. He told me he made the whole thing himself and program the walking too. I think they get those servos free from their school...

Anyway I am thinking of building a robot. I am still thinking what size and type I should aim for. Under 2KG ? Should I make it a pure fighting robot or upgradable with other intelligent stuff ? Who many servos ? Hip servos too? Should I make the wrist rotatable ?

Take a look at all the winners of the RoboOne fights. Under 2kg is for sure not that as expensive as above 2kg. AX-12+ would work fine. AX-18F would be superb :).

17-19 servos. Depending on how many DOF you want for the arm. 5 for each leg + 1 for the hip. Take a look at my last YouTube video. I removed one hip servo. The robot is much more stable.

I would take the bioloid components and modified the feet, like you have done it, and the arm. Attach a light weight and long gripper.

Yep

Regards :)
