I read again the USB2Dynamixel manual (www.robotis.com) but i don't know what alse to do??????
Τhe truth is that i have the problem when i try to connect the Havimo2 camera ,with USB2Dynamixel , to roboplus with Roboplus Terminal and I did not succeed

sakis,

Sounds like your having some real trouble, maybe I can help you get started. There are a number of possible sources of error in the communications process. Your first job in diagnosing this problem is to try and isolate the different pieces and confirm that they work independently.

The computer (a PC I assume) uses a driver for the USB2Dynamixel that must be installed and working. You should go to the Window's System Device Manager and verify that the USB2Dynamixel device is configured to a USB Comm port and that Windows is happy with it. Make a note of the port number Windows is using and select that port specifically in RoboPlus Manager application.

Some users have reported problems with the serial cable. It would be nice if you could find a device that you can connect to the USB2Dynamixel using a different serial cable, another robot, a modem or a serial printer say. If that works then the problem is likely the cable.

If that test fails then you should try to replace the USB2Dynamixel with a commercial USB to serial dongle. If you go this route be sure to purchase a dongle that is compatible with the Robotis system, not all dongles are created the same. I use a Keyspan USB to serial adapter instead of the USB2Dynamixel to connect to my Bioloid's serial port and it works great.

Hope this helps.

Hi Fritzoid

I still have the problem with connection.

I try to connect only one servo motor AX-12 with USB2Dynamixel to see if it's works .

What i did:

i connect the servo with the Usb2dynamixel in TTL possition and then with the cm510 controler , nothing alse is connect only the servo.

Then i search the servo with the Dynamixel Wizard , with Basic search ----NOTHING

i try to make a Dynamixel Firmware Recovery ,but nothing.

The port i thinκ it is OK, port 6 in Windows divice manager and port 6 in roboplus manager,

The TXD LED on Dynamixel usb2 is blinks when i try to connect with the servo AX-12 or with the serial cable to cm510 controler.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Are you saying that you have used the USB2dynamixel in RS232 mode and the serial cable to successfully connect to the CM-510 using RoboPlus Manage? Because that seemed to be your original problem.

I assume you have turned on the CM-510 to get power to the servo. Make sure you see the LED flash.

I also assume that you are using one of the extra three-wire connectors that came with the kit to go from the servo to the USB2dynamixel. Could be a loose wire.

The Dynamixel Wizard program is pretty flakey about the port number it uses. it doesn't seem to remember the last one you used so you have to keep hand selecting it from the pull-down list every time you enter the program. It's easy to forget to do this.

So, if you have selected port 6 and switched the USB2dynamixel into TTL mode and powered on the servo the Dynamixel Wizard should find the servo at 1Mbs. rather quickly.

Try running through the steps again, I know I had some trouble with this the first couple of times I tired it.

I turn on the power to cm510 and try to search the servo with the Dynamixel Wizard,

You are trying to connect to the RS232 interface of the CM-510 with the serial cable again. Is that correct?

Have you changed the USB2Dynamixel mode switch back to RS232?

Do you know the ID of the Havimo2 board? Is it in conflict with one of your servos?

Hi Fritzoid

Yes it is correct, i try to connect the cm510 with serial cable to RS232

Yes i change the mode switch back to RS232
As i sayed i have the broplem after the Havimo2 camera, i try to connect the camera and calibrate with Roboplus TERMINAL,

When i open roboplus terminal -- set up-- connect--port:com6

I do not know if it has relation

Hi Sakis,

So what worked before, connecting to the CM-510 with the serial cable and RoboPlus Terminal, is not working any longer?

That could be a faulty serial cable. Try jiggling the wire to check for a loose connection.

RoboPlus Terminal remembers the port it was set to when you last closed the program. It will attempt to connect to that same port at the same speed the next time you start the program. Not all of the RoboPlus programs work this way.
