Hi guys this is my latest robot the knight Templar II. Most of the servos are robotis rx24f which is twice as fast and strong as the ax12. The arm servos are ax12 taken from my bioloid premium. Then I will upgrade my premium with ax18.
The initial feeling about the rx24f is that it is approximate half the price of the rx28 but it is twice the speed. Of course the torque suffers. However for an under 2kg robot it should be perfect. You can see the servos are strong enough to make the robot jump.
I am also using cm700. It can connect to both ax12 and rx24 at the sametime. One thing I am not used to is the lack of the beep sound from the cm700. This is particularly desirable when running low on battery. Also there is no plug for a wall power supply. I guess I can make an adapter if I want to. The cm700 is also a bit jerky at times. E.g after I save a motion in roboplus it sometimes misalign the servos slightly. One more down side is it does not have a case so you have to be creative. Apart from that it does the job fine and no big issue so far.
For the rx24f, it is very loose when there is no power so as soon as power is off the robot will not stand. This is not the case with ax12. In terms of performance it is very strong, fast and amasingly silent. Because of this the arms can whoop like a ninja.
In terms of robot programming experience it is much easier to make gait when you have strong robots. This is because the robot won't wobble and make the robot fall so a lot more is now possible.

I have more vid, photo and diagram in my blog be sure to check it out and leave a comment.
Btw there is a poll in my blog. I notice the number of vote for rx24 made robot has increase quite a bit after the knight Templar II is made. I guess it shows ppl what rx24 is capable of at a price an intermediate roboticist find ok.
