Hi i have just resubscribed because i didn't remember last username.
My pleasure to you my name is Alessandro and i am italian student with a very strong robotic passion and i am developing around a project from 2 years. project, i called elektro 3, aims to build a robotic platform semiautomatic that use RoboRealm artificial vision and sixteen srf04 sonar sensors to move around in a general place avoiding obstacles and following definied colours.

the project home i interlinked here:

http://forum.roboitalia.com/showthread.php?t=5570

sorry for italian language; i will rewrite it in english here if you are interested, until it; you can show pictures of platform progress.

so...
after this short introduction to me and my project i want to ask you...

i am guessing about two robotic arms with six degrees of freedom each and i thinked about using dynamixel servos.

i planned to use 2 ex106 servos for upper and forearm movements
one rx 64 servo for the elbow; 2 rx 64 for hand pan and tilt and finally a robotic two fingers hand using two ax12+ servos.

a part from the budget i guess is up to 3000 euros.

do you think is a good idea for this price or there are other commercial solutions ready to use?

where i can buy dynamixel directly from the producer?

it is the second time i write on an english forum and i think my english is not very good quality but if you don't understand too i can explain in other words

thank you

Hi esapode688

Considering your budget, you may want to consider less powerfull servos. The EX-106 servos are very expensive. You may want to consider RX-28s where possible and maybe the AX-18F which are much less expensive.

As for a place for buying, Robotis (the manufacturer) does not sell directly to the public.

The best advice is that you get a quote from one of their distributors. We (RobOSavvy) are a Robotis distributor. If you send us the list of parts you need to sales@robosavvy.com we may be able to send you quote (and maybe some discount since you seem to want to buy a large quantity/amount).

Our online store is here: http://robosavvy.com/store but as I said you can simply send us an email with the list of parts you need.

Regards
Pedro.
