Hi all

As we approach Christmas we've been working hard to bring a diversified portfolio of offers and new kits, packs and products.

We're very proud to be able to bring you two new - proper - Comprehensive to PREMIUM Upgrade Kits at an appealing price.

We're featuring 2 flavours of the Kit:

- The Value Pack at £158.80 + VAT (£190.56 GBP inc VAT) it includes
- New Chest Structure + Transparent Chest and Head,
- CM-510
- GS-12 Gyro Sensor
- LiPo Battery
an LiPo Charger
- Zig100 Remote and IR Receiver
- and DMS 80 (Sharp IR Distance Sensor that goes in the Transparent Chest).

It's available from our store here http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... ts_id/1244

- The Pro Pack at £236.50 + VAT (£283.30 GBP inc VAT) it includes everything the Value Pack hs plus
- Zig100 Remote with Zigbee (Zig110)
- USB2Dynamixel
- 2x IR Sensors OIR-10 (these don't usually go on the Humanoid assembly though)

It's available from our store here http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... ts_id/1881

These are proper Upgrade Packs which will breathe new life into your Comprehensive Kit and will turn it into a PREMIUM Kit with all its features.

We're particularly proud of the Value Pack as we've been able to Pack the essence of the PREMIUM Kit (Gyro, CM-510, new Looks, LiPo Battery and RC-100) with a very appealing price tag.

The Pro Pack is aimed at the purists who wish to get all the Extras included in the PREMIUM (USB2Dynamixel, Zigbee, etc.)

I don't recall how much the original Comprehensive to PREMIUM Upgrade Kit from Robotis cost at the time (it was discontinued shortly after its introduction) but I remember it was quite expensive at the time.

The reason why we waited so long to release our own versions of the Upgrade Kit was mainly because Robotis has only recently made available many of these parts for sale separately. (Chest, Covers, etc)

We really hope you like these Upgrade Kits and choose to take your Comprehensive to the next level.

I leave the thread open for your ideas and opinions!

it is not clear what Robotis intends to do with GP as it is currently priced a bit high for the average hobbyist. You can make your own metal brackets by adapting the DaRWin CAD files to AX12. I've experimented on a couple of brackets using Autodesk Inventor.

Hi

To follow up on Limor's post, Roboplus also includes some 3D designs of the GP frames (because it has the 3D simulator).

They can also be used as a starting point for building / machining your own.

I don't believe Robotis will be selling the GP frames stand alone (actually they haven't released any accessories for the GP for sale separately)

As a side note, we may also be able to prepare some AX-18 Upgrade Kit for Bioloid PREMIUM if there is customer interest in this.

So far I'm personally a bit disappointed as we haven't had as many customers interested in upgrading their Comprehensive Kits as I expected.

We really believe these packs (especially the Value pack) brings a lot of Value to who owns a Comprehensive as it adds the new Sensors, the remote and the new skin for a fraction of the cost of a PREMIUM Kit.

Having said this, we'd love to hear your feedback and how you feel about upgrading your Comprehensive kits: which options appeal to you, where would you like to go with the kit in terms of accessories (if upgrading to PREMIUM doesn't suit your needs), and so on...

I look forward for your reactions!

I bought the Robotis upgrade kit and I regret not having bought a second one, for the mechanical parts and the electronics parts.

As the Robotis upgrade isn't available the upgrade of the CM-5 to the CM-510 and the battery is a must:

- CM-510 have more memory and more suport to be programed in C

- You can add up to 6 sensors + gyro, and put it anywhere on your robot they are not phisically integraed as AX-S1.

- The battery is better, lighter and separated from the controller, so you have more options to the weight distribution

- The integration of the controller with the other parts it's more flexible than the previous one

Sure I forget some other advantages, I can't think on any drawback

[Added] I think it would be far more difficult or perhaps impossible to build AntOne (left image) without the upgrade.

I also bought the original upgrade kit, and I don't regret it either, having lots of spare frames, nuts and bolts and cables is great for experimenting without pulling a working robot apart.

For me at least the next big (read expensive) step is to move to AX18 sevos at least for lower body on a humanoid! So a pack of AX18s with some discount, like the 6 pack of AX12s would be a plus!

I do wonder when Robotis might be able to move all servos to magnetic position sensing rather than pots! Pots inevitably wear and servo performance degrades.
One request I have is can we have replacement pots as a spare like we have replacement gears?

On the magnet sensing point I'd hate to spend out lots on AX18 servos to find a MX18 comes out shortly after!

Just some musings
