Hi Forum members,

To connect the AX-18A to the plastic frame, I need WA, BU, S1x4 (PHS M2*6) and SBx1 (PHS M3*10). It seems that WA, BU and S1 are included in the AX-18A motor. How about the SB? I read that the AX-18A comes with the BHS M3*10. What is the difference between the PHS and the BHS screws? Also, what kind of screw driver(s) do I need?

To use the AX-18A, I need to supply an external power. Does the motor or the usb2dynamixel include parts to make a power cable that connects between the AX-18A and the power source? Alternatively, can I use the Bioloid 3P Cable and just cut one end?

Thank you.

For the power supply the easiest is to use the SMPS2 Dynamixel:

Not sure what screws actually come with AX18A.

Best screwdrivers are JIS, but good quality Philips are OK if you are careful and firm.

Thank you i-Bot.

What is the advantage of using the SMPS2Dynamixel? I can connect the output from a regulated power supply to the dynamixel. I can change the voltage from the power supply easily.

The AX comes with:
AX-HORN
BOF-WA/BU Set
Bioloid 3P Cable 200 MM
N1 NUT M2
Bolt (PHS M2*6)
Bolt (BHS M3*10) <-- What is the difference between this and the PHS M3*10?

I have JIS #0 and #1 already. Do I need another type?

The difference between PHS and BHS is small difference in head shape. Button Head (BHS) or Pan Head(PHS). Either should be OK.

The SMPS2Dynamixel is just easy if you want to avoid making cables. The cables take a fair current and a lot of movement. You can make your own, but good crimp tools are expensive.

If you are connecting to a power supply you can cut the end off a cable, or solder wires to a spare 3 pin socket connector.

Thank you i-Bot.

Does the SMPS2Dynamixel come with any cable? From the photo, I don't see any. From the spec, it reduces the voltage from a power supply to the appropriate voltage of the Dynamixel bus and applies it to the bus. Is this being done automatically?

Anybody knows what type of JIS screwdriver is recommended? I have the #0 and #1.
