Hey, since 3-4 years I wanted to build a humanoid. I've never built a robot but I've studied them very closely. From the classic Omnizero, up to the recent IGNIS and HammerHead. It's gonna run on 2800mah 2slipo using 19xMG995 and 4xMG996r. I've already done the servocontroller based on the atmega128 (will be switching to 168 for smaller size and a usb bootloader and ARM in the further future). Anyway, here's a sneak peek on my blog:

The estimated specs are 380H and ~2k weight (rather <2kg)

Very cool. I look forward to seeing a video of it in action.

You can see the torso pic in a small update:

As I'm bending all the parts by hand, I must say it's a pain. I tried to do the Knee Bracket, and boy did I fail. I'm gonna have to think of a replacement quick.

The brackets I've designed are not meant for home bending thats for sure.

Although I will be able to build all the upper part of my humanoid, I will have to redesign the leg brackets to have more screws, and less bending. So a full build will be probably done in mid-late april.

Did you check out any local sheet metal works. They may do it for you.

I used one of these:
http://www.warco.co.uk/Vice-brake-4--wide-746A569580.aspx#
with more success than vice and bending bars alone.

Had to cover part in paper and tape to stop scratching. Maybe you could make something similar. It needs a big solid vice.

Yeah, I'm using a vice and hammer the part through a small wooden block. It works really well but it's not that precise, as how I have it in my inventor project. I decided to just order new brackets, with a maximum of 2-3 bends and screw the thing up. That way it'll all fit, always.

Looking good! I like the parallel linkages on the legs. That's a trick I noticed Hiten using to get such good motion with only 4 servos per leg... without them, you really need an extra servo in the ankle just to keep the foot parallel to the floor.

I really want to build a bot using the same principle... the minimalism of it really appeals to me. Need to get up to speed on machining parts, though; so far I've only worked from kits.

Thanks for the comment!

this is my latest update: http://xmog123x.blogspot.com/2011/10/as ... lmost.html

Though I've done a bit more. I'm stuck cause I broke one bracket part and I can't complete the second leg right now cause my water cutting company cut out only 4 pcs instead of 6! (Honest mistake, but I'm getting behind schedule).

I know it's a biped right now, but the hands will come after I'm done with writing the paper on this. Besides I still need to get it walking ;p

I like the proportions. Are you going to extend the torso higher or will you put a head on top of what you have there?
