SketchUp designs

Hi all! I have been recently using SketchUp, which is incredibly easy to use, especially for hobby robotics designs!

If people are aware of the Lynxmotion SES (Servo Errector Set), I have designed various components which are very easy to combine into concept robotic designs.

Below are 3 pics of the Lynxmotion 209 Biped in different colour combinations:

Oops, sorry about the big pics!

I have also tried a custom biped design and I'm owndering if it would be feasible in the real world, i.e. if there are appropriate servos to withhold the weight of the robot itself plus other possible electronics.

Feedback is welcome! :D

Hey, nice job on the models, they are nice and clean, I'll have to check that program out.

as for your last robot there, its design (in the legs) looks very similar to my model of my robonova, but your robot looks a little too tall to be stable, not sure. Also, the elbow joints may be better off with just a couple straight brackets.

Overall it looks nice though, keep it up! Oh, and btw, as for the feasibility of it, my robot currently has 21 dof and is just slightly shorter than your red robot there, and it is pretty stable, but hey, yours looks pretty nice :-)

amazing work Dimitris!

any chance you can post the actual 3d data so we can play around with it?

btw: very pretty 3DS humanoid robot designs on your web site.. do you have a skeletal rigged model you can share?

Thx for the positive feedback!
I'll work on getting parts and more info online, however at the moment in the holidays I only have access to a slow laptop and lousy 56K connection!

Realisation of the humanoid will take a long while, since servos are expensive!

By the way, are the new Bioloids coming mid aug? Can't wait! :)

...more soon! :D

Regards,
Dimitris

Sorry, forgot to answer! By the 3ds humanoid do you mean the 3ds max robot thingy under graphics or the other biped? Either way I am not very skilled at professional 3d modelling software and haven't attempted rigging yet! Also I don't know if rigging is even possible in SketchUp. If it is I'll definitely give it a try in SketchUp. Anyone have any info/tutorials?

As for the actual SketchUp data, I've been advised by the site owner to best not release the model info as it is not absolutely accurate to the real-life counterparts and may cause confusion. Sorry!
