Is there a KHR 3D model available anywhere?

no one has posted 3D data of the KHR-1 (yet!).
there was a previous threadtalking about ripping the simulator data.

Apparently it should be easy to extract the 3D data from the XVL data used in Majinga. I wonder how much information is stored in a XVL file.
Is it encrypted or something ?

The XVL file can be cracked. However I think it would not be legal to use that data in our programs.

I would do a 3d model of this guy, no problem. What level of accuracy are people interested in? I would be measuring the parts with calipers. If people want to help out by submitting dimensioned sketches of the brackets, servos, and screws that would be great. I would draw it in Catia and translate it to iges or step.

se7en, do you have the KHR1 parts available to perform measurements ?
I can send measurements of any part if you need them.

I would say 0,1 mm accuracy would be enough. It is important to consider both shape and thickness of aluminium parts. However small complex parts would not need to be modelled with the same accuracy (for example servos have some detailed parts that are unnecessary).

My goal is to keep the 3D design on the computer in order to use it in an interactive software. However, once you do such a work I would consider other options. For sure people here would have other applications for a KHR model.

Please tell us any need you may have to start your work.

Hi Inaki,
I just ordered my robot little over a week ago. I'm expecting to see it in about a week. part of the fun for me will be creating a 3d model for the mods i want to do. since his parts are very redundant the model should go together very quickly. I am with you on the level of detail required. I do CAD design for a living so I know where to stop, but sometimes its easy to get carried away because detail looks cool. Today I just found iges (3d data) on some kondo servos although I am not to sure if it is the correct one. A cool website i found, the guy either designed khr-1 or copied it. I still need to buy calipers to measure everything, unless I borrow them from work. If you want to start measuring parts and sending me data (images or whatever) I will get started. Is iges data good for your end purposes? I will be doing the work in Catia.

se7en, here there is a description of one of the most used aluminium parts. I hope it is enough for you to have a taste of how are built the parts in KHR. If you can model it please post a picture!

You can download a BMP with my description at:

I created a 3D model of the bracket but I cant figure out how to upload a picture to this website.

Select 'Manage File Uploads' on the 'User Info' column, at the left of the main screen. Then once the file has been uploaded copy/paste the link here.

Excellent work! Amazing animation! Thanks!

Do you want me to send some more information about this part ?
Do you want me to send you similar information for other parts ?

inaki.

Thanks,
It is up to you inaki how much measuring you want to do. The servo info I found online is not good, I can't use it. If you measure it, I will model it, thats the deal! otherwise we need to wait for me to get my bot and come up with some calipers. On this last part I made some guesses, yes hole positions, and the chamfers on the corners. well, lots of things, did you measure to bend tengents or guess the intersections? did your lengths D and E go to the bottom of the bracket or just to the chamfer? what was the inside to inside (servo horn to servo horn) distance? I probably want too much detail for your purposes, but it is important for my purposes. but, regardless, I can do the bulk of the work now, and tweak it later when i have more data.

Here there is the servo part. It is a Kondo 784-ICS blue series. I have added a scan of the logo part (second link) in case you want to use it as a label on your model. The first link is a BMP with a picture of the model and all measures I have done on this part.

I didn't add the sticker because thats only good when rendering, maybe later.

Keep it coming :]
