I will put it up here eventually. Send me your email in a private message, i'll send you the files. Could you contribute a dimensioned drawing of another bracket? Also, what file formats are you interested in? I think my robot may not get here as fast as i hoped. I was having a friend get it for me while overseas, now he is giving me some static :[ I'll keep modeling parts as long as people submit sketches. Be accurate!!

This is part 3. It is used to hold the servos and allow to attach them to different parts like part 1 brackets, hands, etc.

I just wanted to let everybody know that the full 3D model of KHR-1 will be available for download here on Robosavvy. The entire robot will be posted when I have everything drawn and fitted nicely. :D

3D Model Progress Report

Just an update for all those interested. I have ALL of the brackets and the servo modeled. I just need to assemble the 3D robot and fix any misalignments. I still need to model the back cover, battery, rcb-1, hones. I am modeling parts as I build the actual robot so I have a couple days to go since it's a lot of work to do simultaneously. Here are some pictures:

I'm having a lot of fun with this model. I have made quite a bit of progress today with my robot and with the 3D model. Have a look:

I still need to add screws, battery, boards, cover, and those mean looking eyes. Maybe a bit too detailed but thats just me.

Incredible!!!!

For the 3d simulator i need the joints axis information.
ideally they should appear in the file as skeletal animation transforms.

please upload the data when you feel ready

3D Model of KHR1 is DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The model is done. I added screws, back cover and plastic plate the rcb1's mount to. This was a lot of work and it went faster than I planned. This is a very accurate model. I can't wait to see what some people do with it. I will be uploading the model soon. It will be a .wrl file that can be opened in various CAD packages or with free downloadable VRML viewers and plugins for IE. Everybody will be able to use the model. Here are some images showing the back cover and the screw details .

Well, I tweaked the model a little bit more, adding eyes and PC boards. He is all done and uploaded. Get him at the link below. File size is 3.78 Mb. it took about 40 seconds to download and load into the viewer with my cable modem. You might want to do a right-click/save-as on the link below. I hope everybody has fun with the model. I am eager to hear comments so please post them. See my post above for info on viewing this file type.

This is a great contribution!

I had no problems viewing the model with a VRML viewer (i use Cortona MS internet explorer plugin from parallelgraphics.com) even though a bit slow to turn the model on my overclocked AMD Athlon XP 2400.

I tried importing the model into 3D-Studio and it crashed.
I tried to use another converter and it crashed.
I tried to import the model into blender3d and only part of the model appeared.

I had a look at the file itself and it seems to contain no object-names and no hierarchy information.
You can see lines in the form of DEF _20BE6D88 which define objects and then USE _20BE6D88 which place the object in the scene using a given transform.

Can you please save the file in several formats including the original Catia, IGES and anything else your Export-> menu offers. Is there an option to save an animation ? since such a file will definitely have all the right matrix transforms.

[ Dassault Systemes, makers of Catia V5, have an XML format with a downloadable XML schema http://www.3ds.com/3dxml/
I registered on their site to download the schema but still waiting for a reply. ]

KHR-1 3D in STEP Format

For the CAD people, I have uploaded the robot in a series of 21 step files, Step AP214 to be exact. Step is a universal CAD data translation format. Anybody with decent CAD software can open it. The 21 files are stored in position so opening all at once will give you the entire robot. I divided the robot into modules consisting of a servo and all rigidly associated brackets and screws. the body assembly was broken down a bit more to keep data size down for people using 3rd party translation software. I also have the option to translate the robot into wavefront object (.obj) format for you animators, post some replies if interested. :)
